What is Consignment?
Consignment is when a shop sells goods for an owner in exchange for a percentage of the total selling price. The owner then gets paid via check or store credit once the items sell.
We make re-homing your gently used outdoor gear hassle-free! We handle the selling process for you, offering a one-stop shop for your convenience. You get paid once items sell, avoiding the hassles of online classifieds. With the variety of outdoor recreation opportunities around, we maintain a steady flow of adventurers ready to buy your gently used gear!
Adventurous Threads does NOT buy items outright. Payment is only made via check or store credit AFTER an item sells. All items must be CLEAN, complete with all parts, and in working condition.

Brands we do not consign include: department store brands, GAP, Old Navy, Target or Walmart brands, Shein, Temu, Fashion brands, Amazon Brands, and others. Fashion-oriented brands are a better fit for other consignment stores in town that specialize in that style. Less expensive department store brands have their place and we’re not trying to be gear snobs, but the more affordable something is new, the less worthwhile it is to resell.
Items we do not consign include but are not limited to: electronics, large fitness equipment, scuba gear, motors or engines, skis and boots older than 10 years, firearms, motorcycle equipment or apparel, air mattresses, and water skis.
Consignor Agreement Details
Consignor Expectations:
At Adventurous Threads, we're all about fostering a sense of community. We aim to build strong relationships with both our consignors and customers. By collaborating, we can ensure that outdoor gear gets a second life and benefits our environment. We kindly ask that you treat us and others with the same respect that you'd expect.
Gear Expectations:
We only accept items that are in good condition, clean, and fully functional. We reserve the right to decline items based on factors such as brand, condition, and seasonal relevance. If an item that was initially accepted fails to meet our standards, we'll notify you, and it's important to respond promptly. Otherwise, unclaimed items will become property of Adventurous Threads or be donated.
Pricing:
The sale prices are determined by our team, taking into account factors like industry knowledge, item condition, local demand, and more. Please note that if new information emerges affecting the fair market value of an item, we reserve the right to adjust the price accordingly.
Time Limit & Discounts:
After 60 days, the price can be reduced by 10%. After 90 days, the price can be reduced by 20%. After 120 days, the price can be reduced by 30%. All items have 180 days to sell. You are responsible for the retrieval of any unsold items after the expiration date. We will not notify you – please consult your Consignor Access Portal. Items left over
240 days will become the property of Adventurous Threads and/or donated.
Consignment terms last for a minimum of 60 days. During this period, we kindly request that you refrain from listing the consigned items on other platforms or marketplaces.
Payout:
Upon the sale of an item, the earnings are credited to your consignment account, accessible through the online portal. Store credit is immediately available upon sale.
Payouts can be collected in person or, for a $2 handling fee, can be processed via PayPal.
You're welcome to leave your earnings in your account for up to one year from your most recent purchase or sale. If there's no account activity within this time, we'll attempt to contact you using the contact details in your consignor account. After multiple unsuccessful attempts, any remaining balance may become property of Adventurous Threads or be donated.
Liability:
We take great care of consigned items. In cases of damage, loss due to theft, fire, water, or other unforeseen events, our liability is limited to the item's most recent list price minus our commission. The payout for damaged or lost items will be added to your consignor account, giving you the option to withdraw or use it as in-store credit.
By accepting this payout or reimbursement, you release Adventurous Threads from further claims.
Updating Contact Information:
Please ensure that your contact information is up to date in the online portal. Alternatively, promptly reach out to us with any updated contact or address details.
